Origis Energy Services is proud to again sponsor the 9th annual Infocast Southeast Renewable Energy summit, this year taking place October 28-30, 2024, in Charlotte, NC. Origis Energy executives will participate in three panels at the event.

Event Date: October 28 – 30, 2024

Panel Discussion: Measures to Improve Long-Term Project Performance and Reduce Project Attrition—Role of O&M

Project underperformance and attrition have emerged as major issues in renewable energy in the Southeast. Developers, utilities, and regulators are struggling with meeting their respective goals due to long-term production delivery falling short of expectations.

This panel will explore potential solutions to some of the thorniest problems facing the industry, including:

  • What has been causing project attrition and underperformance?
  • Front-end engineering for long-term operations
  • Staffing shortages and workforce development strategies
  • Technological advances: AI, robotics, and cybersecurity
  • Impacts from software and platform improvements

Panelists
Josh Corbitt, VP Business Development, ORIGIS ENERGY SERVICES
Lakshmi Nandakumar, Senior Manager, DG Operations, AREVON
Ravi Singh, Senior Director of Operating Asset Management, 174 POWER GLOBAL

Panel Discussion: Profiting from Growing Demand and Overcoming Renewable Energy Development Hurdles in the Southeast

The IRA, market forces and the permitting environment are radically changing the development game in the Southeast. Energy community and other adders are driving developers to re-map project siting paradigms, while increasing capex and EPC costs are driving negotiations around PPAs. Local pushback on solar is in many areas limiting the ability to efficiently site solar, but a general increase in price curves due to natural gas prices could emphasize the relative value of renewable energy.

This panel will address how these market forces are changing development, and the potential solutions they are using.

  • What is being seen regarding PPA pricing in the Southeast, and how that is affecting project development and financing?
  • How is the load growth from the entrance of data centers, EVs and new manufacturing affecting the renewable energy market?
  • How are developers dealing with sourcing solar and storage equipment to meet IRA domestic content requirements?
  • How is Energy Community guidance affecting site selection and interconnection challenges?
  • What are the implications of prevailing wage and apprenticeship requirements?
  • Are agrivoltaic projects proving effective in alleviating land-use concerns?
  • How are interconnection queue backups affecting project pipelines?
  • What types of approaches are being taken in contracts to limit risk exposure and deal with cost and schedule uncertainties?
  • How are they addressing personnel shortages and workforce development issues?

Panelists
Chris Lane, Senior Director, Business Development, ORIGIS ENERGY
Joshua Rogol, President, STRATA CLEAN ENERGY
Danny Van Clief, Chief Executive Officer, SUN TRIBE DEVELOPMENT
Kelly Weger, RA, LEED AP, CEA, Senior Director, Sustainability, QCELLS

Panel Discussion: Community Engagement and Other Effective Strategies for Increasing Local Acceptance of Energy Projects

A groundswell of local opposition to permitting renewable energy continues to plague the development of solar and other renewables, making it increasingly likely that projects will encounter difficulties siting in otherwise suitable areas. Many groups and constituencies have expressed a range of concerns with solar, wind, and storage projects. In response many national organizations and private companies are developing methods to court vital constituencies, combat disinformation campaigns, and educate local government officials.

This panel will examine the sources of local opposition, and progress to date on developing effective methods to overcome these hurdles.

  • What has been driving the local opposition?
  • What methods are counties and states putting in place to limit adding renewable energy?
  • What methods are proving effective to further development of renewable energy?
