Even before Beryl touched down, Texas utilities were developing approaches to hardening the grid against the risks of wildfires, flooding, hurricane force winds, and other extreme weather events. The costs of system hardening can be extremely high and must be carefully planned. This panel will explore the options utilities are choosing to harden their systems to increase reliability and resiliency and the consequences of that hardening on the rest of power system.
