According to Origis Energy’s Johan Vanhee, Mississippi Power’s partnership with his company on utility scale solar is just the beginning for renewable energy in South Mississippi.
Last week, Vanhee spelled out the recipe for utility scale solar success to members of the Hattiesburg Area Development Partnership.
“There’s a saying that only dead fish go with the flow,” said Vanhee, the managing director of operations and business development for Origis. “Many thought this wouldn’t happen in Mississippi, but here you have a microclimate that is conducive for solar energy. With solar there are no emissions, you can’t hear it or smell it, and the panels are no more than eight feet high.”
Vanhee also addressed the recent Public Service Commission’s ruling on net metering, saying the plan “is fair for all parties involved.”
