Project Overview

Tanglewood Solar was one of two solar projects announced in conjunction with the rollout of Georgia Power Renewable Energy Development Initiative in 2018.

In 2018, Georgia Power announced plans to add more than 177 MW of new solar resources to supply the company’s Commercial & Industrial Renewable Energy Development Initiative (C&I REDI).

The Georgia PSC approved Georgia Power power purchase agreements for the C&I REDI program with two developers building, owning and operating the solar facilities to supply the program. One of those projects was the Origis Energy 57.5 MW Tanglewood Solar facility, located in Camilla, Georgia.

ECONOMIC IMPORTANCE

In 2021 Origis announced a $25,000.00 philanthropic grant to Healing4Heroes, located in Atlanta, Georgia. The non-profit is dedicated to assisting wounded military personnel and veterans with the assistance of A.D.A. compliant service animals.

“Thank you Origis! Your very generous donation has been crucial funding for us this year,” said Piper Hill, Founder, Healing4Heroes. “Our organization has suffered from COVID impacts. Donations had pretty much dried up when you came to our rescue. However, the need for help by wounded service members, veterans and shelter dogs does not stop. Because of all of this, we are even more grateful for your extremely generous donation.”

ENERGY IMPORTANCE

Tanglewood Solar is a solar facility under the Georgia Power Renewable Energy Development Initiative (REDI) serving the utility’s customers participating in the Commercial and Industrial REDI (C&I REDI) program.

Four Georgia Power customers – Google, Johnson & Johnson, Target and Walmart – have subscribed to the C&I REDI Program through customer agreements for terms of at least 10 years in length.
