Origis Energy is committed to making contributions in communities where our utility scale clean energy projects are located. The new $50,000 Wing Solar Scholarship by Origis Energy and PowerSouth Energy Cooperative is administered by The Lurleen B. Wallace Community College (LBWCC) Foundation. It is a one time endowment for high achieving students attending LBWCC who demonstrate a financial need and are intending to pursue a degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) related program. Origis also made a one time donation of $50,000 to the Wing Volunteer Fire Department.

Partnering Utility

PowerSouth is a generation and transmission cooperative that serves the wholesale energy needs of 16 electric cooperatives and four municipal electric systems in Alabama and northwest Florida. To maintain a standard of reliability and affordability, PowerSouth relies on a diverse mix of energy, including natural gas, coal, hydro and solar. It is PowerSouth’s belief that responsibly adding solar energy to traditional, baseload generation is the most balanced approach to serving its members. Collectively, the distribution members provide electric service to homes, businesses and industries in 39 Alabama and 10 Florida Counties.
